The B3D team is thrilled to participate in a new COST Action, officially launched in Brussels on September 26th.
This initiative brings together a network of international biofilm experts from diverse academic fields. Its primary goal is to bridge the gap between academic research, industrial applications, and regulatory frameworks by establishing unified guidelines for biofilm-related regulatory processes.
Key Objectives:
-Evaluation of Novel Biofilm Methods: Identify and assess new methods with potential for standardization, aiding regulatory decisions.
-Development and Evaluation of New Technologies: Define areas requiring updated tools, with guidelines ensuring data is translatable for regulatory use.
-Achieving Consensus: Facilitate discussions among academic, industrial, and regulatory stakeholders to develop consensus-driven guidelines.
-Engaging Stakeholders: Create educational materials to inform policymakers, regulators, and industry professionals about the need for standardized biofilm regulations.
Keywords: Biofilm, Methods, Regulatory Approval, Biofilm Control, Biofilm Management
This COST project is coordinated by Darla Goeres (Faculty of Engineering U. Porto / Center for Biofilm Engineering Montana State University).
