Loïc Chollet is an engineer in the ProbiHôte team, specializing in animal experimentation. In the group headed by Prof. Harry Sokol, he studies the interaction between the intestinal microbiota and the energy metabolism of host immune cells. In October 2024, he will start a PhD in Immunology on this subject.
He completed a Master’s degree in preclinical experimentation management at the University of Caen, and did an internship at the Centre Broca Nouvelle Aquitaine, where he was assistant to the head of the animal facility and learned stereotaxis. After obtaining his Master’s degree, he was recruited as an engineer at the Pasteur Institute in Lille, where he worked on two different projects. The first project investigated possible treatments for diabetic foot ulcers, which affect 15% of diabetic patients and lead to amputation in one in two cases. The second project was the study of the interaction between the gut microbiota and the lung, with the aim of using certain bacterial strains to prevent, lessen or treat respiratory infections such as IAV or COVID.
