Researcher at INRAE in Jouy-en-Josas for the past 25 years. His research first focused on the human gut microbiota in relation to diet and health in Joël Doré’s team (1999-2004), then on the key genetic determinants in the transition from commensalism to opportunistic pathogenesis of Enterococcus faecalis in Pascale Serror’s team (since 2005). His current work has combined these 2 themes and is focused on the barrier effect of the intestinal microbiota against multi-resistant bacteria, including Enterococcus, with the aim to better understand the mechanism of this barrier effect, and to translate this knowledge into applications for personalised medicine in humans. In this context, he is the scientific responsible of the Cultissimeo facility for the development of high-throughput culturomics and coordinator of the Cultissimo targeted project in the PEPR Système Alimentaire Microbiome et Santé.
