Pascale Serror is a bacterial geneticist whose research is focused on Gram-positive bacteria. After obtaining her PhD in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Clermont-Ferrand, she specialised in microbiology at the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE) in Jouy-en-Josas, and as a visiting researcher at Tufts University in Boston. Her research has concentrated on the genomic and functional characterisation of Bacillus subtilis, Lactobacillus delbrueckii bulgaricus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Enterococcus cecorum. She is the leader of the Commensalism and Pathogenesis of Enterococci (CPE) team, which is engaged in research on the transition of enterococci from commensalism to pathogenesis, considering the bacterium, the host, and the microbiota. The current work of her group is focused on understanding the microbiota-mediated mechanisms that prevent enterococcal colonisation of the gut and the interaction of E. faecalis with host cells.
