Shreyas completed his Integrated BS-MS Dual Degree at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati in Biological Sciences. During his time at IISER Tirupati, he was a part of the institute’s iGEM teams in 2021 and 2022, gaining a deep passion and interest in molecular and synthetic biology. He pursued his master’s thesis at Max Planck Institute of Multidisciplinary Science, Göttingen, Germany, under the supervision of Dr Elisa Oberbeckmann in the Cramer department. During his thesis, he worked on understanding the role of TFIID in promoter recognition in budding yeast.
To dive deeper into synthetic biology, Shreyas is pursuing his PhD at INRAE Jouy-en-Josas/ University Paris-Saclay under the supervision of Dr Manish Kushwaha and Dr Ioana Popescu. During his PhD, Shreyas is working on building a resource-aware cross-species expression system. He uses various prokaryotic and eukaryotic model organisms as testbeds for this system.
