Véronique DOUARD

Véronique has been a senior researcher in the team “Food, Gut Microbiota, Brain, and Metabolic Diseases” since 2017. She has been studying the impact of dietary sugars on metabolic disorders and intestinal physiology for over 15 years. After completing her PhD (2001) on the role of lipids in reproduction, she undertook postdoctoral research and later served as a Research Associate Professor at Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA) from 2005 to 2013. During this time, she investigated the regulation of intestinal fructose absorption during postnatal development and its links to renal and bone pathologies.

In 2014, she joined the MICALIS Institute at INRAE in Jouy-en-Josas, where her research has since focused on the role of gut microbiota interactions with dietary sugars, particularly fructose, and their impact on host intestinal physiology, glucose homeostasis, and food intake disorders.
