As a postdoctoral researcher, I am currently involved in a collaborative project between INRAE and an industrial partner.
My journey within the B3D team started a few years ago during my PhD research, where I focused on the direct comparison of spatial transcriptional heterogeneity between different Bacillus subtilis biofilm communities in/on different surface-associated multicellular models (colony, swarm, pellicle and submerged). This not only deepened my skills in transcriptional data analysis, confocal microscopy and molecular biology, but also promoted an understanding of biofilm dynamics at spatial and temporal scales.
Currently, I am immersed in a multi-species biofilm assemblage project involving bacteria, fungi, and yeast. This project aims to address bio-contamination challenges by unraveling microbial interactions within biofilms. Utilizing tools such as metagenomics, bioreactor operations, and confocal microscopy, we aim to develop strategic methods for strain selection and enhance our understanding of strain interactions within a biofilm.
